Aftermath....by Polly Anna

I am just not a fan of the word aftermath.  To me it means we need to do math after something really bad happens.   I'm not good at math.  Who really wants to add bad stuff up? The first time I paid any attention to that word was during the 2005 Tsunami.  Reporters "aftermathed" us into shock as wave upon wave wreaked havoc in southeast Asia.  It is possible that during 9/11 the word aftermath was first broadcast non stop. But me and around 8 million other New Yorkers were in utter shock and I don't remember hearing anything but sirens 24/7 in an otherwise silent experience akin to shell shock.

It seems like HUGE annual tragedies are commonplace nowadays.  If it's not weather, it is war.  WHY?  Why is the negative spinning out of control so much that we need to have an aftermath?  Maybe I am just so into happy sparkly things, mainly gemstones and jewelry, that I cannot see wasting time on negative energy like war, politics, religion and all the other taboo topics.  I for one prefer adding up the good stuff life has to offer.  There is so much positive and good that needs an aftermath!  I'm just sayin' is all.... here is something pretty to get distracted by....
